The Park
Our first Park is located at the center of Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus and more specifically at the bastion Podokatoro. The existing green space has a privileged position as it provides views towards the modern and old city, has a rich variety of indigenous trees, and is located next to the statue of Liberty and the Venetian walls.
The park was designed in collaboration with the Ministry of Nicosia, the Department of Gardens and the Department of Antiquities, who all made sure to take all the necessary measures to protect existing trees and the Venetian walls, and to ultimately create a design that will appropriately cohabit with the provided area. Moreover, the parks will be modelled after a design style that will address climate change and ensure an inclusive space.
- The Park ’In Your Honour” aims to:
- Provide easy circulation within the park and create spaces for repose, fun and recreation.
- Host festivals and events
- Provide easy access to people with disabilities.
- Create an outdoor structure (gazebo).
- Provide services such as a playground and sitting area.
- Have a central area that will be able to accommodate up to 20 stalls (2x3m) around the paths with easy access to all points.
- Upgrade the existing green space by planting new greenery, implementing a natural ecological water collection system and protecting existing trees.
In the future, we plan on creating other green spaces and parks that will also serve as ‘awareness symbols’ for the scourge of Cancer and it will be In Honour those who lived, won or are battling cancer.
